Finding Joy Through the Darkness

My heart is empty, shallow without you.

Why thou stay silent in my dark abode?

Only your spirit can make me anew.

Come fill me, showing me the lighted road.

Jesus, I lay down my life at the cross.

Only your blood can cleanse me of this sin,

Which keeps me in darkness and acts as boss.

My life is yours, may your spirit move in.

Holy Spirit, your light moves within me.

Immediately, scales fall from my eyes.

When opening them, it’s clearness I see.

Of sin’s bondage, you have broken the ties.

I can see the light instead of darkness.

Now filled with joy, replacing the sadness.

Fall In Love with Jesus

My daughter accepted Jesus as her savior and was baptized at the age of 5.  Some might say this is too young, that she did not understand what she was doing, or even that I had brainwashed her.  Yes, I heard them all.  God kept reminding me that He calls us to have a childlike faith, and that Jesus reminds us to let the children come to him.  I knew she understood exactly what she was doing, and since then she has taught me about childlike faith and what it looks like to fall in love with Jesus.

It is amazing.  She hasn’t read the bible, and what she does know about Jesus and the scriptures have been taught to her by myself, her sunday school teacher (again myself), and her teachers at school.  Yet, she loves Jesus so deeply that it brings her to tears, literally.

One day we were in the car, and I heard her crying.  This seemed odd because nothing had happened to make her cry, she was just crying.  When I asked her why she was crying, she innocently told me that she wanted to be in Heaven right now because she wanted to see Jesus.  She went on to tell me how much she loved him and missed him.  I was astonished to say the least.

The more I thought about it, the more I realized that she is in love with Jesus.  Think about when you first fell in love with someone.  When you fall in love nothing else matters, and all you can think about is the person you love.  You wake up thinking about them, and you go to sleep thinking about them.  Also, when you are not with them it hurts, and you have this overwhelming desire to be with that person again.  To top it all off you will do ANYTHING to be with that person.

Guess what…THIS IS HOW WE SHOULD FEEL ABOUT JESUS!

I’m not saying everyone should break down and cry at the drop of a hat because they can’t physically be with Jesus right now, but what I am saying is that when you love Jesus you put him first and love him with all your heart.

“Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.” (Deuteronomy 6:5).

This is the first commandment.  We should love God first above everything else, including others.

Jesus loves you more than you could ever imagine.  He loves you so deeply that he sits and waits on the other end of the phone line for you to call.  Patiently he waits to hear from you.  Your phone line to God is prayer.  You don’t have to pay a monthly bill, long distance fees, or overage charges.  It is completely FREE, and you can contact him anywhere and at anytime.  When you start spending time with God, intimate prayer time, your heart will start to fall for him.  It is inevitable.  You will FALL IN LOVE WITH JESUS.  He is AMAZING!

Jesus Loves You

This is such a simple phrase, Jesus loves you.  Sometimes I think it is so simple that its significance is reduced.

Think about this for a minute, or as long as it takes for it to fully resinate with you.

The CREATOR of the universe LOVES YOU.

“For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16 NLT).  I love the NLT version of this familiar scripture.  “God loved [YOU] so much…”  God doesn’t just love you a little.  He loves you SO MUCH.

He loves you SO MUCH that he CREATED you.  He didn’t have to create anyone, but  he wanted to create you.  The bible says he personally knit you together.  “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb” (Psalm 139:13).  He knew you would sin and turn away from him, but he still WANTED you.  Psalm 139:16 says that God saw you before you were born, and that he knew everyday and every moment of your life…HE STILL WANTED YOU!

Jesus loves me SO MUCH that he has held on to me , even when I was at my worst.  In John 10:28, Jesus states that no one can snatch you out of his hand.  He holds on tight and he will never let go.

Jesus loves me this I know,

For the Bible tells me so,…

Yes, Jesus Loves me

Yes, Jesus loves me

Yes, Jesus loves me

The Bible tells me so

JESUS LOVES YOU
