A Reminder from a Child

“I love being a Christian.”  These were the words spoken by my 6-year old daughter this morning.  Not only did this statement warm my heart, it also made me realize how she viewed herself.  She easily could have said, “I love going to church,” or “I love being a Baptist.”  Instead she sees herself simply as a follower of Christ, a Christian.

You see she gets it.  Even at a young age she understands that it does not matter what church your attend.  All that matters is that we are all a part of one body, the body of Christ, and it has nothing to do with our church denomination.  Romans 12:5 says, “so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.”  Christ reminds us to be like the little children, and honestly I have found that they really do have a lot to teach us.

The “Church” was intended to be one, as in one in the body of Christ, not many different buildings.  Begin to see your self as a Christian rather than a member of your particular church.
